My story...
I haven’t always been a florist; I’ve worked in business for most of my career, but I have always had a passion for beautiful flowers.
Having worked in business for a number of years but always having an inner creative flair I decided to career change when I hit a 'big birthday'.
I took a City & Guilds course in Floristry to learn the basics but after a couple of years I realised I wanted to work with floaty, ruffly, beautiful, garden variety style of flowers; the ‘just picked’ type that make your heart sing a little bit when you receive them. Those with bouncy heads and arching stems. I love scented, delicate and seasonal flowers because those with a fleeting lifespan are simply more precious.
I researched and invested in further training and in doing so I discovered ‘my style’. My work is unstructured, soft and sometimes looks a little bit wild meadow. I use garden and local grown flowers along with imported flowers and an odd home grown stem. I fully embrace natural ‘sticking out’ bits and the beauty of a quirky stem
To further educate myself I decided to enrol on a wedding florist retreat at 'Tallulah Rose' and spent a week schooling in The Lake District. That's when 'Flowers By Marie' became more than my dream. Since then I've studied further, including a Wedding Masterclass week at the UK School of Floristy with the UK's number 1 florist 'Joseph Massie'. - So I have truthfully been taught by the best!
Over the past five years I've freelanced for Joseph Massie and had the opportunity to work on some stunning weddings, and in some amazing venues, such as Tatton Park in Cheshire.
I've learned how to put beautiful floral creations together and I hope that if we work together on your wedding or event that you find that same 'heart flutter' or at the very least, a small smile....whatever the occasion.
Weddings, funerals and floral workshops are my thing.... and my work is rooted in a love of natural beauty and seasonal flowers, with every design created to reflect individuality, emotion and occasion.
In support of this, my own workshops offer a relaxed and creative space to learn, laugh and enjoy a couple of hours working with flowers.
If you are planning a wedding or event and my floral style fits your vibe then I really look forward to hearing from you!
Take care,
Marie x
